When you know God’s will, but still run

Jonah was a Jew. He was well aware of the laws of God. Just like us, he must have been taught the importance of obeying the sovereign God from childhood.

However, when he heard a command from God, his flesh overpowered him. He was not driven by confusion or uncertainty about God's word. The word of God had clearly been revealed to him, yet he chose to run away and ignore what God said.

Many times, God asks us to choose paths that we would never choose. These are the times where our Christian theoretical knowledge needs to be used practically. As Christians, we are not called to run away from it, rather to face it with boldness and courage of God.
Jonah knew the right path, yet he refused to choose it. This led to grave consequences.
When we know the will of God, and we still choose to disobey it, we are only inviting grave consequences and discipline in our lives. Jonah's disobedience led him to be corrected by God in a harsh way. The more we disobey God, the more the whip gets sharper.
We can relate this to Romans 8:1-11, which describes the carnal mind and the spiritual mind. Both of them are at constant war. The victory lies in our hands, if we choose to obey the voice of God rather than the voice of the flesh.

Today, if we hear the voice of God, rather than letting flesh, fear and doubt overcome the voice of God, let us walk into His will, with full confidence that He will guide us through
