John 12:1–8

Mary’s act of pouring out the costly perfume and wiping Jesus’ feet with her hair in front of a whole crowd of people having dinner shows us a humility that goes beyond words. She did not care how she appeared before the people around her. Her only concern was Jesus. She was willing to humble herself completely because she knew He was worthy of everything she could give.

We are nothing and we deserve nothing in this world. Our lives do not belong to us. As Luke 17:10 says "So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, 'We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.'" We are not the centre; Christ is. Jesus Christ is to whom our entire being belongs. Our abilities, possessions, ambitions, relationships, and even our future are gifts entrusted to us by Him.

Let everything we are and everything we do point back to Him and bring glory to His name.
