Using the Insignificant

Exodus 3:1-2
1 Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro, his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. 2 There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up.

Firstly let us get into a little geography, Mount Horeb is most commonly called Mount Sinai today. It is also widely known in Arabic as Jebel Musa (the Mountain of Moses). The climate here is an extreme desert mountain type and a hyper arid, rocky wilderness habitat. The summers are hot with intense daytime sun and freezing winter nights. This gives us an idea that plant life is extremely sparse, limited to drought resistant shrubs and thorny acacia trees. Yet, beyond all one resilient shrub/bush grew. If I were the bush I would have thought... God what am I doing in this place, vast mountain desert with scorching heat, visible to none, questioning the very existence.

The God almighty chose this one particular bush to descend. The very bush which God used to speak to Moses in flames of fire.

Similarly in our lives too we might find ourselves in the situations where you don’t know why you are placed there, when everything around you is deserted, where you have to thrive hard just to exist. Even if you manage to stand tall you question your purpose. But do not be discouraged, you might be that bush which God will choose to descend and appear in flames of fire. Every little thing mentioned in the bible is of utmost significance and you can be that burning bush God spoke through. And the rest, history speaks for itself leading Israel into the land flowing with milk and honey.
