The Friendship I Want Most

Today I ate the Word from James 4. This chapter really gave me a lot to chew on!

One thing that really caught my attention was "friendship with the world is enmity with God." That really made me pause!! How easily my heart can get attracted to the things of this world and slowly move away from God without even realising it. Abbah, I don’t want to be so comfortable with the world that I become distant from You. I want my heart to belong completely to You...

And then verses 7 and 8 really encouraged me. "Submit yourselves, therefore, to God. RESIST THE DEVIL, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.”  I love that. I also noticed how James talks about asking and not receiving because of wrong motives. It made me look at my own prayers and ask, am I asking just for what I want, or am I really seeking His will? I want to draw near to Him with a heart that truly desires Him...

Precious Holy Spirit, help me not to become a friend of the world (I learnt from a mission conference that God is calling me into a deeper friendship with him. I truly wanna embrace that!) Help me to submit to God, resist the enemy, draw near to Abba, and let even my prayers come from a heart that seeks his will. Please keep transforming me into the image of our beloved Jesus. Help the readers as well. Father God, i love you! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
