Not I, But Christ in Me

Passages: Galatians 2:20 & John 3:16

"I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me." - Galatians 2:20

What God Spoke to My Heart :

When meditating on Galatians 2:20, the Holy Spirit drew my attention to the first line: our old self has been crucified.

Our "old self" is the life driven by worldly desires, pride, and sin. Water baptism and our confession of faith are not just outward symbols, they are an inward declaration that we have died to the world to live completely for Christ.

It is easy to get caught up in outward religious habits like attending meetings or singing songs without our inner spirit truly being anchored in repentance. But what does it profit a man if he gains the entire world, yet loses his own soul?

In John 3:16 , we see the pure heart of the Gospel: God gave His only begotten Son without holding back. We were broken and rebellious, yet Jesus took our place on the cross to close the chapter of sin and open the reality of eternal life.

My Application & Response:

There was a time I read the Bible casually, but when I began meditating on the Word, God started revealing the true power of the Gospel to me.

Dear brothers and sisters, let us take a moment to examine our own lives—let us constantly check our hearts, our daily actions, and the circles we keep to make sure they truly align with the Gospel. Every single day, let us choose to keep our selfish desires on the cross so Christ can lead us. We only get this one life on earth to run the race faithfully, so let us make it count by living out our calling and boldly sharing this Good News with everyone around us.

Heavenly Father, I surrender my life fully to You today. Forgive me where I have faltered. Keep my old self crucified and let Jesus truly live in me. Help me run this race faithfully so that, like Apostle Paul, I may finish my course with joy. In Jesus' name, Amen.
