Revelation 3:7-13

Today I ate the Word from Revelation 3:7-13. This is Jesus speaking to the church in Philadelphia. And as I’m the church, I’m putting myself in their place and listening to what Jesus is saying to me.

I’m a person who’s big on reassurance. I try my best to make sure the people around me know they’re loved by me. I believe reassurance is a great human need. Sometimes, I just want to hear, "I know you. I see you. I love you. I’m still here." There’s something deeply comforting about being reminded that I’m seen and loved, especially on the days when I don’t feel very strong.

And because I know how much reassurance can mean, I try to give that same assurance to the people I love and value. They should never have to wonder where they stand with me. I believe we should tell and show the people we love that they matter to us.
And when I read Revelation, I saw a Jesus who’s reassuring! He’s giving reassurance after reassurance. What a gentleman he is :)
He says, "I know your deeds."

I KNOW.

The God who knows me inside out! He sees everything about me, yet He has placed before me an open door that no one can shut.
Then Jesus says, "I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name."

I found this so comforting. He knows what I do. He knows my pain. He knows that I have little strength, and He sees that I’m still holding on to His Word. He sees it all.

And then Jesus moves to a promise. Because I have kept his word and not denied his name, Jesus says He’ll acknowledge His love for me in front of the worldA public display of affection?! My Jesus! WOW.

Then comes the most exciting part. I’m following these promises and writing them down as I read Revelation, eagerly waiting for what comes next. Today I came across the 8th promise, and it is this:- if I’m victorious, Jesus will make me a pillar in the temple of God, and I’ll never leave it. He will also write on me the name of God, the name of His Holy City, the NEW JERUSALEM, and His new name.

What a day and what a life that’ll be! I’ll forever be with my God...

Recently, I went to a fasting prayer. As people were offering up their prayer matters, I suddenly realised something. I only need Jesus. With tears in my eyes, I prayed earnestly, "I need You, Lord. That’s what I need the most. I need You. More than anything. You’re enough."

I’m not writing this to show that I’m some super-spiritual person. But I know I’m being transformed. In spite of my shortcomings, my delights have started to change.
Does that mean I don’t have any other wants? No. I do have many things in this world that I would love to see fulfilled. But my ultimate need is God.
And here, Jesus is saying that I’ll forever be with my God, as a pillar in His temple, if I’m victorious. I can’t explain what a reward that looks like to me! Thankyou, my Lord...

Precious Holy Spirit, please help me. Help me to be victorious. Teach me God’s ways. Help me to please Him with everything. Yes, I have little strength. But help me to keep Your Word. Help me find my delight in You. And... Thank You for these beautiful promises. Heal me, Lord. Heal my heart, body and mind. Bless me with more of Your Spirit and peace. Bless the readers as well. Until we meet face-to-face, help me to abide in You. I can’t wait to spend eternity in Your presence. You are all that I need, my King. Thanks for the public display of affection in Calvary and even through all eternity. I love You too, my Abba. Make me more like Jesus every day.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
