Examine Yourself, Reflect Christ

“For what is the hope of the hypocrite, though he hath gained, when God taketh away his soul?”

“For what is the hope of the godless when God cuts him off, when God takes away his life?”

Two very powerful words are used in these two different versions: “hypocrite” and “godless.”

Today, in my self-reflection, I just wanted to reflect on these two words and how they can work in my life.

As humans, we have a tendency to become hypocritical sometimes. The Bible contains many verses to keep us aware of this. A famous verse quoted by Jesus in Matthew 7:3-5 reminds us to examine ourselves before pointing out the faults of others.

Today, the learning that I would like to take is to think and examine myself before I speak or take any action. I should not be impulsive or wise in my own eyes. I should examine myself and ask God to change this nature in me.

The second word from the ESV is “godless.”

We may go to church, participate in church events, sing songs of worship, and even speak about God, yet if our hearts and lives consistently reject His ways, our outward activities do not necessarily reflect genuine devotion to Him.

Jesus calls us to be witnesses of Him in this world, not known as godless.

Each one of us is entrusted with a purpose, and no purpose can be fulfilled without Him. Being His witnesses means reflecting Christ in whatever we do - in school, at our workplace, and even in our church.

Let people see Christ through us.
