This morning I ate the word from Mark 7.
As I write this, I'm sitting inside a tourist bus, along with my whole church family, going to Thrissur from Ranni. Hoorrayy... my heart is so joyful!!
The song "Ee Paradevanaho namukk" (meaning - "This is the Supreme God for us") is playing in the background as I am reflecting on the Scriptures. Oh, In him we definitely have so much joy - inside-out!
From this chapter, One thing that made me pause was how Jesus said, "THESE PEOPLE HONOUR ME WITH THEIR LIPS, BUT THEIR HEARTS ARE FAR FROM ME." How terrible!!
Oh wait.
Does that mean no matter how many songs I sing or How-much-ever I speak about Jesus, it doesn't matter until God have my HEART!? Abba, I don’t want to just look like a Christian, I want my heart to truly belong to You... Please never let me do the outward 'christian things' and have my heart far away from you.. Please help me Lord...
The Syrophoenician woman’s faith also really moved me. Even when she heard Jesus say "For it is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs" , She choose to not get offended. She didn't care about anything else but restoration that comes through Jesus. She still stayed, and her reply amazed Jesus. She had FAITH. A Persistent Faith! Wow. That Lady was so so determined! I want that kind of faith.
And again I noticed how Jesus told people NOT TO TELL ANYONE after He healed them, but the more He told them, the more they proclaimed it. Jesus never chased fame. He wasn’t trying to become known. He came to make the Father known. Not chasing Fame while fully being used by God. That's some next level Jesus-ness!
That really challenges me. As I become a Christovert, I want my heart to be transformed like Jesus... not chasing recognition, but simply living for Him. I know that's not a heart posture that comes naturally, but You, My friend, My Precious Holy spirit, my heart is all yours... Make me into the image of our beloved Jesus, please. Please help the readers as well. Father God, I love you.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
Your quiet time isn't just for you.
