Before I Ask, I Worship

Revelation 5

Today I ate the Word from Revelation 5. It’s 5:20 PM as I’m writing this from my room. We're preparing for our monthly prayer at home, and unlike the other months when the prayer happened during the day, today it’s happening at night. As I was reading this chapter, I kept thinking about the One who is worthy. John sees a scroll in the right hand of the One seated on the throne, sealed with seven seals. But no one in heaven, on earth or under the earth is found worthy to open it, and John begins to weep. Then one of the elders tells him, "Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah... has triumphed." But when John looks, he sees a Lamb, looking as though it had been slain. That really got me. The One who has conquered is the Lamb who was slain. Jesus is worthy because He gave Himself for us!!

And then suddenly, the whole atmosphere changes. Heaven begins to worship. The living creatures and the elders fall down before the Lamb, and they sing, "Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain." Thousands upon thousands join in, and the whole creation gives praise to the One seated on the throne and to the Lamb. As I’m sitting here writing this while our home is being prepared for tonight’s prayer, I just want to pause and remember who we are gathering before. We’re not just gathering to bring our prayer requests. We’re gathering before the One who is worthy. The One on the throne. The Lamb who was slain for us. And honestly, what else can I do but worship?

Precious Holy Spirit, help me to see Jesus for who He truly is. When I come before You with my needs, don't let me forget Your worthiness. Teach me to worship You even before I see answers. Jesus, You are worthy of my whole life. You are worthy of my surrender, my trust and my praise. Make me more like Jesus every day. Bless everyone who reads this as well. In Jesus' name, Amen...
