Becoming a Christovert

Today I ate the word from the Gospel of Mark Chapter 1.

Few things that amazed me are - when Jesus comes into a person’s life, He calls them to leave the old and follow Him IMMEDIATELY. Simon, Andrew, James, and John did not have everything figured out before following Jesus. They simply responded to His call. This challenges me to ask whether I am holding on to things that Jesus has already asked me to leave behind...

Another important thing I noticed is that Jesus always found time to withdraw and pray. Even when crowds were looking for Him and there was so much ministry to do, Jesus went to a solitary place to pray. This reminds me that being busy for God should never become an excuse for neglecting time with God. If Jesus, who is the Son of God, intentionally withdrew to pray, how much more do I need that time with the Father?

This also connects deeply with what I call being a CHRISTOVERT. When I become more like Jesus, I will naturally become more of a Christovert, someone whose life is being conformed to the image of Christ.... It is not just about doing the things Jesus did externally, but allowing His character, priorities, humility, dependence on the Father, and love to become evident in me.

Another thing that stood out to me is that Jesus never seemed to chase fame or human recognition. Even when His works became known and crowds gathered around Him, He did not make popularity His goal. After healing the leper, Jesus instructed him not to publicize it. Jesus was more concerned about obeying the Father and fulfilling His purpose than becoming famous among people.

That really challenges me because it is possible to do something for God and still secretly desire recognition for it. Mark 1 reminds me that my goal should not be to become known, but to make Christ known!!!
